The function of the invention was to take pictures of the ozone layer, which later lead to the discovery of how humanity was causing harm to the earth, and further increasing the density/size of the ozone layer. To protect ourselves from the damage of the ozone layer, things such as sunscreen were created. Awareness of the sun's harmful affects were now known to mankind. Extra precautions were taken, so that skin cancer would not be an affect on society.
